1. What are the enrolment procedures for the Pilot Scheme?

Before receiving the services of the Pilot Scheme, you must provide a valid Hong Kong Identity Card and the original copy of the documentary proof of the assistance received to the Service Provider for verifying the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria of the Pilot Scheme.

At the same time, the Service Provider will enquire about your cervical cancer screening record. You must authorize the Service Provider to access the Cervical Screening Information System of the Department of Health to view your screening records to ensure that the current recommendations for cervical cancer screening are followed.

2. I have joined the Pilot Scheme in the first year.
(a) If I am due for cervical cancer screening in the second year, do I need to apply again?
(b) Can I choose another Service Provider for the second smear?

(a) Yes, if you want to join the Pilot Scheme to receive second pap smear, you have to submit a new application and fulfil the eligibility criteria at the time of application.

(b) You can choose another Service Provider under the Pilot Scheme for the second round of screening.

3. My family is receiving Low-income Working Family Allowance (LIFA). However, my name is not shown on the Notification of Application Result. Am I eligible for the Pilot Scheme? What types of documentary proof are required?

Beneficiaries of assistance as stated in eligibility criteria will be financially eligible to join the Pilot Scheme. If the applicant’s name is not shown in the documentary proof, the applicant must submit proof of household or family member relationship.

4. I have got human papillomavirus (cervical cancer or HPV) vaccination already. Can I enrol in the Pilot Scheme to receive cervical cancer screening (pap smear)?

You still need regular cervical cancer screening after having received HPV vaccination because it does not protect against infection by the HPV types not included in the vaccine and cannot clear the virus which have already been infected. You can receive cervical cancer screening and preventive education service under the Pilot Scheme provided that you meet the eligibility criteria.

5. I have registered Cervical Screening Programme and have received the cervical cancer screening in government clinic. Can I transfer to the clinic under the Pilot Scheme to receive the subsidized cervical cancer screening ?

Yes. You can receive the subsidized cervical cancer screening and preventive education service at any clinics/ centres of the Service Providers under the Pilot Scheme provided that you meet the eligibility criteria.

6. Why am I required to join the Cervical Screening Programme when I participate in the Pilot Scheme?

Participant of the Pilot Scheme must register in the Cervical Screening Programme of the Department of Health for the purpose of recording and storing your smear test results in the Cervical Screening Information System and issuing reminders for the recommended date of the next screening. After joining the Cervical Screening Programme, you can authorise your healthcare staff to access your screening records in the System so as to provide continuous and consistent follow up services.

7. Can I use Health Care Voucher in settling the service charge (if applicable)?

No. Health Care Voucher cannot be used to settle the service charge.
