Updated Statistics of the Cervical Screening Programme (CSP) in the 2nd Quarter of 2008

1. Number of women newly registered with CSP

In the 2nd quarter of 2008 (from April to June 2008), a total of 6 185 woman have registered with the CSP (Figure 1). The top 3 age groups of the new registrants were 30-34 years, 35-39 years and 25-29 years.

2. Number of cervical cytology tests reported in the 2nd Quarter of 2008

In the 2nd quarter of 2008 (from April to June 2008), the Cervical Screening Information System has received 31 427 cervical cytology tests results for all woman registered with the CSP . The proportions of the results categorized according to the Bethesda System 2001 are shown in Figure 2. Among them, over 91% of smear results were 'Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy', while around 8% were abnormal.
