Updated Statistics of the Cervical Screening Programme (CSP) in the 3rd Quarter of 2011

1. Number of women newly registered with CSP by age group

In the 3rd quarter of 2011 (from July to September 2011), a total of 6 931 women have newly registered with the CSP (Figure 1). The top 3 age groups of the new registrants were 30-34 years, 35-39 years and 25-29 years respectively.

2. Number of cervical cytology tests reported

In the 3rd quarter of 2011 (from July to September 2011), the Cervical Screening Information System has received 28 061 cervical cytology test results for all women registered with the CSP. The proportions of the results as categorized according to the Bethesda System 2001 are shown in Figure 2. Among them, around 91% of smear results were 'Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy', while around 8% were abnormal.
