Updated Statistics of the Cervical Screening Programme (CSP) in the 4th Quarter of 2009
1. Number of women newly registered with CSP by age group
In the 4th quarter of 2009 (from October to December 2009), a total of 9 950 women have newly registered with the CSP (Figure 1). The top 3 age groups of the new registrants were 30-34 years, 35-39 years and 25-29 years.

2. Number of cervical cytology tests reported
In the 4th quarter of 2009 (from October to December 2009), the Cervical Screening Information System has received 29 832 cervical cytology tests results for all women registered with the CSP. The proportions of the results as categorized according to the Bethesda System 2001 are shown in Figure 2. Among them, around 92% of smear results were 'Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy', while around 8% were abnormal.
